| 🪡 Introduction

── ⋅ ── ❀ ── ⋅ ──

Victor Desrosiers is one of the deuteragonists in Bewilthred. Quiet, sweet, but awfully timid, Victor is as gentle as a mouse. Spending his whole life looking through his mother’s rose-tinted worldview, everything on the Warrior’s journey is new to him. Though meek, anxious, and honestly a bit of a doormat, his kind and soft-spoken nature always shines through. Being the Warrior’s designated “healer”, he can’t help but reach a hand out to someone in need. His true personality, though hidden under layers of anxiety, can’t help but bloom now surrounded by those willing to see it shine through. For the first time, Victor is seeing the world isn’t as cruel as the story his family had stitched for him. Couldn’t he at least try to offer a hand, and let it heal with him?

However, his family is hesitant to let him leave without a fight. Both induced with the paranoia he’s been fed to believe in since he was a child and the looming threat of being reunited with his mother, the possibility of meeting his family and needing to stand up for himself is…mortifying, to say the least. If worst comes to worst, will he be able to stand up for what is right? For the warriors? For himself? He’s spent his whole life going by the whims of others, letting people tell him what to say, how to act, going against that would be like defying who he was.

Who even was he, without someone telling him who to be?

He wasn’t quite sure…

But, maybe, with the warriors by his side, he’ll find out.

| 🪡 Before The Story

── ⋅ ── ❀ ── ⋅ ──

Warnings: Abuse (Physical, Mental, Verbal), Lilith

While all of the warriors have had tough circumstances that led them to the journey they’re on now, Victor’s life prior to meeting the warriors was practically a pantomime of sorrow. Victor was born into the “Dollmaker/Desrosiers” bloodline, meaning his family descended from the original pair of Dollvanian’s and acted as the planet’s aristocracy. This, of course, meant that before Victor could even walk, his whole life had been plotted out for him. While all of his extended family had a tendency to be callous and cruel, Victor’s mother, Lilith, somehow exceeded that standard in a way that is hard to really fathom.

Lilith had always viewed life like a game. She had played it and the people she’d met like one since the moment she could make her own choices. She’d played Victor’s own father like that many years ago, and look at how he’s remembered now. Lilith chose over and over again to keep putting herself in a loop of seeking the pursuit of “better”. If she was in control, she was the best. If she was always right, then she was secure. With such a fragile ego and an ambitious appetite, who could be surprised that she chose to give birth for the sake of saying she did so. Victor’s conception stemmed from a mix of societal pressure to maintain a family and Lilith’s own twisted motivations. If anything was obvious, though, it was that whoever Victor was inside wasn’t welcome in this house.

Lilith chose to conceive Victor with the expectation that he’d be malleable enough to shape into both the perfect victim and the perfect clone. Through Victor, Lilith wanted something to break, something to control, something to hold within her teeth and ring whenever she felt the world was slipping out of grasp. Even more so, in Victor she sought a trophy, a puppet, a prize to hang from her shelf after a long life of work, and prizes ought to be kept safe. Lilith locked Victor behind the bars of his bedroom and threw away the key. Like some sort of far off prince, Victor spent his childhood enclosed in the halls of the Desrosiers estate, with his mother keeping a keen eye on him to make sure he wouldn’t grow away from her roots. You can imagine what kind of life that was through Victor’s eyes. Without even a chance to get a proper taste of the outside world, is it really a surprise Victor grew to fear anything and everything he’d come across?

Growing up, Victor was instilled with paranoid tales of what would happen if he left his mother’s side. Lilith told him that the world was cold and cruel, that if he even dared to step outside, he’d be hurt in ways he couldn’t even fathom. Lilith convinced Victor that he was the lucky one. How lucky he was, to have someone tentatively shield him away from that harm. She told him, for years, to be thankful for his cage. At least nobody else could hurt him, at least only she could. It’s not like Lilith’s blatant abuse counted as hurt to her, though. To her, she was just teaching him the way he ought to be. “Discipline” is what she called it. It’s what she called it when she chose to force Victor into endless extracurriculars. When she forced him to wear or talk a certain way. And of course, when Victor was bruised from her actions, it was just to teach a lesson. Punishment keeps people in line.

But it doesn’t stop you from seeing a pattern.

| 🪡 Act 1

── ⋅ ── ❀ ── ⋅ ──

By the time Bewilthred’s story begins, Victor’s birthday had passed. With him getting closer and closer to fulfilling his role as the Dollvanian heir, he had worked up the courage to ask his mother if he could maybe try to make some real friends. Being homeschooled his entire life meant he had little chance to really interact with anyone outside his family, and especially now as he was getting older he couldn’t help but crave for something more. Lilith, of course, dismissed this request like she did with every other one of Victor’s reasonable requests for independence. As Victor insisted, she only pushed back more and more, until eventually Victor was forced to concede.

When Victor went back to his room, he couldn’t help but feel as if he had no control over anything in his life. Was it really so bad to want to live without fear? To be able to connect with others? Was this place really something to be thankful for? He didn’t really know what to think. He’d convinced himself that it’s not even like he’d fight for that anyways. He was always a coward. That’s when out of the corner of his eye, a bright light shone outside.

Maybe Victor didn’t have enough courage to properly stand up for himself, but in that moment he had enough courage to convince himself to at least take a small look. It’d only be for a moment, just a moment.

As Victor slipped out of his bedroom window and down to the streets below, he sneaked about to investigate. That’s when Victor found a rift. Looking closer, he was startled by one of the guards patrolling the area and…well, fell right inside.

Shortly after falling into the rift, Victor ended up in a garden on another planet named “Quescillia” and met six other teenagers just like him. Together, they meet Peace, the Keeper of Peace and manager of order in the universe. The seven of them are told they are part of a prophecy which says that one day seven warriors all from rifts would unite to save their universe from a rising galactic threat known as Omne, and learn that they just might be the last hope in stopping said threat from taking over the world as we know it. Peace assigns them her second in command, Hanabi to help guide them throughout their journey.

Despite their strange coming together, the group strives to do their best. Together as The Warriors of Peace (Or The WOP for short), they swear to always come out on top, and become who they’re meant to be…no matter who or what stands in their way.

Let’s just hope their efforts aren’t completely in vain…the universe depends on it.

"And I know you'll say how I'm a burden, yeah do your worst all at once..."

| 🌹 Introduction

── ⋅ ── ❀ ── ⋅ ──

On first impression, Victor is quiet, sweet, and awfully timid. Victor’s overly anxious and worrisome nature is often the first thing people note about him. Always keeping to himself and seemingly spilling out apologies at the end of all his sentences, Victor has always had trouble asserting himself. However, underneath these fearful behaviors Victor displays a gentility unlike anything else. He contrasts his upbringing by striving to make a world which he had always been primed to fear a little kinder through simple actions.

However, Victor’s saddled with a fatal flaw. A severe lack of a spine. Though it’s not his fault, he has been conditioned to always bend over backwards for the whims of other people, Victor’s self esteem is so frail he will practically find himself at fault for anything. You could pour a bowl of hot soup into his lap and he’d be the one apologizing to you instead. This often leads to Victor struggling to stand up for himself and his beliefs when put to the test. Since he deeply fears punishment, it leads to him making what he feels are “cowardly” choices. However, to those who know the full picture, it’s obvious that this method of “freezing” in the face of fear is a result of a dysfunctional nervous system trained only on the worst of what the world has to offer.

Additionally, Victor is a sensitive soul. He expresses this with a warmth very few can replicate. Since he knows very intimately the experience of being wounded, he is able to connect with the other warriors (and especially Phoenix) in a way that truly helps them feel seen and understood. With the right amount of courage, he could be just as strong of a leaderly figure as Lia is. This sensitivity can also be a keen tool for offense as well. The last person you want to anger is someone who can understand you on a deep emotional level. That is how you end up having each of your most open wounds shown for all the world to see. If Victor inherited anything from his mother, it was her ability to read people and use that to her advantage. However, Victor struggles deeply with allowing himself to be open and vulnerable with his teammates, especially at first. You can’t blame him too hard for that though, when you’ve been taught your whole life you will be inevitably punished just for the notion of existing wrong, it makes it hard to tell people of the hurt you have endured.

One of Victor’s points of shame throughout the story is his relation to his family and especially his mother. Considering Dollvania’s connections to Omne, it isn’t really a surprise that Victor wouldn’t want the Warriors to assume the worst of him. While he doesn’t outright lie about his origins, he definitely doesn’t clue the warriors in on the specifics of his family or his upbringing until he opens up to Phoenix and Kai later on. He desperately wants to run away from his past and be loved normally. Unfortunately, for him to truly grow, he’s going to have to acknowledge his roots somehow. To be vulnerable is a deeply scary thing, but it is also one of the most freeing things you can do. After all, without the rot, nothing would grow.

Most of Victor’s key points of learning throughout the story is, as alluded to before, gaining the courage to stand up for himself and what he believes in. Phoenix serves as an essential point of inspiration for Victor’s development, as through her fiery, confident voice, he begins to find his own. Through Phoenix’s kindness to him even as a stranger, he was able to believe in a world that wasn’t as terrible as he was promised it’d be. Additionally, his other teammates like Kai help bring out the more playful parts of him. All of these connections with others contribute to him being able to find his own footing and recognize his worth as an individual. Only then can he make those next steps to properly tell off the people who’ve done him wrong and become more than just an “empty doll”.

| 🌹 ACT 1

── ⋅ ── ❀ ── ⋅ ──

Victor starts out Act 1 expectedly quite reserved and quiet. Often keeping to himself, the only person he initially interacts with a lot is Phoenix, mostly due to her being the one to find him initially on Quescillia. Excluding Nate, he is the only member of the Warriors who has some degree of medical knowledge. This leads to him becoming essentially the designated “healer/medic” type of the team.

Victor initially treats being a member of the WOP as just another demand he must do. Really, the first thing he asked when he was told he had to “save the universe” was not what he’d get out of it or even to question the legitimacy of the offer, but to instead ask if he could do it without anyone back home knowing of his whereabouts. To him, this adventure is an escape. While he isn’t quite ready to embrace it fully yet, anything is better than being trapped in that forsaken house a second longer. That doesn’t stop Victor from harboring some amount of guilt, shame, and fear however.

Victor’s main learning point in Act 1 is addressing his issues with being able to stand up for others. Victor fears he will turn on or “backstab” those he cares about in fear of being hurt again. This idea of being a traitor, or even worse, a coward would make a fool out of people like Phoenix in Victor’s mind, who would’ve wasted all of that time believing in him. While this isn’t true of course, it doesn’t stop Victor from fearing he won’t be able to do what is right. Victor challenges this by allowing morality to overtake any sense of punishment he may face. Using Phoenix as an inspiration, he is able to learn that yeah, doing what’s right will hurt like hell sometimes, but that sure doesn’t mean it isn’t worth doing. If he has to put himself up in order to protect his friends, then so be it. He isn’t going to let himself run away from these problems anymore, and finally face it head on.

Maybe sometime soon he can do the same for himself too.

🪡 personality

Friends to Lovers

To most outsiders looking in, Phoenix and Victor are as polarized as magnets. However, the two of them can’t seem to stay away from each other. While the two heavily contrast, Phoenix’s outspoken and especially proud nature inspires Victor to have that same pride in himself. Additionally, Phoenix admires and finds comfort in Victor’s quiet understanding. He affirms and makes her feel wanted and needed despite her rampant fears. Victor’s affection for Phoenix, while obvious to everyone else, is initially not so obvious to her. Despite this however, the two learn a lot from each other over the course of the story, and who knows, maybe Phoenix will finally get a clue as to what Victor really thinks about her…
As Act 1 progresses, Phoenix and Victor inevitably get much closer. Victor’s crush on Phoenix is a surprise to few, but is especially obvious during Act 1. His bashful and shy demeanor around her is telling enough, but the fact he’s always looking for ways to bring her happiness doesn’t help either. Phoenix is, admittedly, INCREDIBLY OBLIVIOUS to most of Victor’s advances. Not so much out of ignorance or even because she doesn’t feel similar, quite the contrary, but more so out of a state of denial. For a long while, Phoenix doesn’t know if she is ready or able to be loved in the way Victor loves her. Being convinced you’re a monster really doesn’t do wonders when someone else is trying to tell you otherwise. However, as things progress, Phoenix bit by bit lets Victor love her the way she deserves, and vice versa.
Best Friend

Those with only a surface level understanding of Kai and Victor’s personalities would scoff at the idea of them being paired as roommates. Seriously? Them? How, out of all of the warriors, did the two end up rooming together? Well, the truth is they share almost a brotherly bond that can be hard to understand at first. While their rooming situation was complete happenstance, it worked in both of their favors by introducing both of them to a best friend. Whilst Victor is completely adverse to danger, Kai embraces even a small hint of it. This leads to the two constantly pushing and pulling back on one another, as Victor tries to stop Kai from getting into more shenanigans than necessary. However, the two do care for each other pretty deeply. Kai’s one of the first people Victor opens up to about his homelife, and Victor can’t help but be thankful to him for that. Victor has equally been safe and compassionate towards Kai, so they basically lean on one another in that way.

His symbol was originally an X/”Null” before becoming the Flora symbol

He has a pet rodent named Lucy who he acquires later on in the story! She is so very lovely. We love Lucy.

He (and all Dollvanians) were based on the toy brand Lalalaloopsy. Specifically his hair was based on “Sir Battlescarred’s” hair! It’s yarn-like basically.

Speaking of hair. HE IS NOT BALD. I PROMISE YOU HE IS NOT BALD!!! He hides his hair under his hat. He's weird like that.

Initially, I’d like to think his assigned family flower was a “Victoria Lily” (obviously associated with Lilith/Lily of the Valley), however his actual symbol resembles a Crape Myrtle. I even found a genus of it that shares his name sake! How cool is that! Also he’s obviously got rose symbolism all over him.

His first iteration had him be a rogue gambler type who drank wine. What a difference man. His inception came from watching “Friend That You Need” animatics, yes the My Little Pony Movie song. I’m so serious.

There are some WEIRD and SUSPICIOUS rumors that he was associated with the “emo” subculture for a while in 2020. That’s such a weird rumor though hahaha I wonder who said that. (I look at the camera like I’m in the office)

Speaking of which he would be the Dollvanian equivlanet of Panic! At The Disco's #1 fan and #1 hater. The duality of being a P!ATD fan.
